DAY 01: ARRIVE PARO

The flight into the Himalayas reveals breathtaking views of the great peaks, taking you right into the Dragon Kingdom's cloud scraping airstrip at Paro (altitude 7000ft.). Your Bhutanese escort from our local agent receives you on arrive and drive you through beautiful valley of Paro to the hotel. After refreshments take a stroll around the little town of Paro. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 02: PARO

A drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong (18 kms from the hotel). This Dzong of historical importance, from whose ramparts the Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invaders. On a clear day you can view the sacred Chomolhari (Mountain of Godess) 24,00 ft. After lunch visit Taa Dzong, the National Museum housed in an ancient water tower, which has a fine collection of ancient Thangka paintings, textiles, weapons and artifacts. Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 03: PARO – DAY EXCURSION TO TAKTSANG

After breakfast, drive to Satsam Chorten and take a two hours ride/hike to the viewpoint of Taktsang Monastery. A light refreshment and hot lunch will be served at the cafeteria. After lunch walk back to Satsam Chorten and drive back to hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 04: PARO – THIMPHU [68KMS - 2 hours]

After breakfast drive through the Paro and Thimphu valleys to the capital of Bhutan-Thimphu. Visit the Memorial Chorten to His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and visit the Handicrafts Emporium. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 05: THIMPU-PUNAKHA (77 kms)

The drive to Punakha takes you through Duchula Pass, site of one of most Bhutan's enchanting views. On a clear the whole range of the Himalaya stretching from east to west can be viewed. The journey continues through varying scenes of greenery to Punakha. View the Punakha Dzong from outside. This Dzong (fort) is set on the junction of the two rivers Phochu (male river) and Mochu (female river) with their waters merging right in front. At present, this Dzong serves as the winter residence for the Je Khenpo, Chief Abbot of the central Monk Body. In the afternoon, drive to Wangdue Phodrang. Overnight at hotel in Punakha.

DAY 06: PUNAKHA-THIMPU

Drive back to Thimphu. Sightseeing in Thimphu includes- visit to the Painting School of Buddist Art, the National Library, which holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts and the Indigenious Hospital, where centuries old healing arts as are still practised. Then visit the Handicrafts Emporium for a little souvenir shopping. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 07: THIMPHU-PARO

After breakfast, visit Sangay Gang where you can get a good view of the whole Thimphu valley, followed by a visit to the Zilukha Nunnery. After lunch drive to Paro. Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 08: PARO-DEPARTURE

Early breakfast at the hotel, thereafter drive to the Airport to board the flight. Your local representative will see you off and bid you farewell.
