DAY 01: ARRIVE PARO
The flight into the Himalayas reveals
breathtaking views of the great peaks,
taking you right into the Dragon Kingdom's
cloud scraping airstrip at Paro (altitude
7000 ft). Your Bhutanese escort from
our local agent will receive you on
arrival and drive you through beautiful
valley of Paro to the hotel. Dinner
and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 02: PARO – THIMPU
[68 kms / 2hours]
The day begins with a visit to the
ruins of Drukgyel Dzong (18 kms from
the main town). This Dzong is of historical
importance, from whose ramparts the
Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invaders.
On a clear day, you can view the sacred
Chomolhari (Mountain of Goddess) 24,000
ft.After lunch, visit Taa Dzong, the
National Museum housed in an ancient
water tower. It has a fine collection
of ancient Thangka painting, textiles,
weapons and artifacts.
DAY 03: THIMPHU – PARO
Morning, sightseeing in Thimphu begins
with a visit to the National Library,
which holds a vast collection of ancient
Buddhist manuscripts, the school of
Thangka Painting and the Traditional
Medicine Institute, where centuries
old healing arts are still practiced.
Then visit the Memorial Chorten to
His Late Majesty King Jigme Dorji
Wangchuck, the Handicrafts Emporium
to see the exquisite artistry of traditional
crafts and textiles and take a stroll
through the streets for a little shopping.
In the evening, drive to Paro. Overnight
at the hotel.
DAY 04: PARO DEPART
Breakfast at the hotel and then drive
to the airport to board the flight.
Your escort will assist you with the
exit formalities and bid you farewell.
